I walked to Tesco (the grocery to which I often bike) today. It had rained earlier in the morning and afternoon, and the streets were wet enough that I really didn't want to bike. Maybe eventually I'll be confident enough to do that, but not yet! Doesn't it seem like a lot of my stories involve going to the grocery store? And I haven't even posted some of the really strange stuff you can buy there! I digress.... When I came out of the store and saw that it was raining, I was SO THANKFUL that I had walked! The rain was light at first, but before long I was walking home in a downpour. By the time I got back to the apartment, I looked like I had been swimming with my clothes on -- AND I HAD AN UMBRELLA! As I was walking, I was reminded of Forrest Gump talking about sideways rain and rain that seems to come up at you. I was so wet that I even my hair and glasses (the things most protected by the umbrella) were wet and my glasses are fogging up in the picture. Water was running down my arms and legs. Andy opened the door, laughed, and ran to get the camera! I keep thinking the rainy season will come to an end soon. Because it is only 2 weeks, right?! But here we are, at least 2 and a half weeks of rain every day, and at least 4 more days with rain in the forecast! Ahh, the rainy season!
Hi Wilcox! It's Tina Wagner. So sorry that we missed your going-away party, we were out of town. Seems that has happened on every occasion you have invited us to a get together. I guess that's what we get for having all of my family living out of town! I'm so glad to hear that your move went well and you and the kids are adjusting well. We have been praying for you all and will continue to. I'd love to ask you some questions about Dubai, I have a friend that is possibly moving there and wanted info about churches over there. If you could email me at tinawagner@fuse.net that would be great! I love your blog page, what great way to keep everyone informed. I enjoy your stories! Got to run, busy day ahead. May Father's unending love for you be evident to all! Love, Tina
ReplyDeleteHilarious picture! Before I read the entry, I was wondering why on earth you didn't just use your umbrella... I think it's Andy's turn to go to the store next. Don't you guys have a driver yet?
ReplyDeleteYou poor thing! I agree with your friend... I think it's Andy's turn next!
ReplyDeleteI'll keep my fingers crossed for the rain to end!
Take care,
Jenni
But I like to go to the store! :-) We do have a driver, but normally we won't use him on the weekend. Besides even with the driver, I would still walk/bike to Tesco because it is only 2 blocks away. Getting out like that provides me with a bit of freedom! By the way, Andy is taking the test to get his Chinese driver's license today. I'll post more on this later....
ReplyDeleteSomething about Andy driving in China... he's braver than I am. I remember what it's like to be a passenger in vehicles where 3 lanes becomes 5! i love the graeter's shirt!
