Borneo

Saturday we left early to fly to Shenzen (in China) and then on to Kota Kinabalu. (Isn't that a great name? We really just enjoy saying it.) We are now here on the island of Borneo, in the country of Malaysia near the city of Kota Kinabalu. The island of Borneo has many rainforests and is home to orang utans. We have spent the last 2 mornings at the beach and then moved to the pool about lunchtime. There is a covered children's pool so we can play in the water and still protect our fair skin. ;-) Tomorrow morning we are going to see an orang utan reserve. You can see them at morning or afternoon feeding times. We still cannot believe that we are here! We are having such an amazing time as a family! Some highlights....

The view from our hotel room
This afternoon we went for a hike in a rainforest. We saw so many neat things! Here Josh and I are on a bridge over a particularly boggy part of the forest. The first part of the hike was not so great.... at one point I looked down at my legs and had about 20+ mosquitoes on me (for once I am NOT exaggerating). They were swarming all around us! After a second liberal dose of repellant, the hike became much more enjoyable.
We hiked to the top of this hill that overlooked the ocean one way and another way you can see Mount Kinabalu. The mountain is behind Becca but somewhat obscured by clouds. We hope to go to Kinabalu Park (where the mountain is) one day this week.
Our little sand monster.... Just before Andy took this picture, Tori asked me, "Can I get sand on my swimmy suit? Can I get sand on my swim dress (aka: her cover-up)?" When I answered yes, I had NO idea that she would be practically rolling in the sand!
Josh loves to run in and out of the water
